WHAT IS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE THEY ARE FACING?
Imagine you're in a big goverment company with almost 10.000 employees and you're just merged from 4 different holding into one big centered holding. The first question that comes in mind are "How to make sure everyone from different holdings have an equal competency maturity?"
What they need is not a sharing session or enroll into many courses, at least not for now. What they need is to connect everyone from different holdings to communicate and sharing knowledge into each other. That is why we build a Portaverse. A super app platform for Pelindo to complete and connect every employee in Indonesia.
From the information given, Pelindo currently has 13.000 active employees with an age range between 21 & 55. The challenge we're facing are we need to ensure the user experience is familiar and easy to use for everyone. Here's a brief information for the users who will use the app.

When entering the business process phase our clients need to explain the business requirements for the product. As a product designer, I need to define what problem the clients have. From there, I have to break down each problem from clients.
Within our Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), we avoid sticking to a specific model. Our fundamental approach is based on the Waterfall method, due to our priority of swiftly shipping the product. The trajectory of the product's development includes numerous iterations, as we consistently incorporate client feedback. While the SDLC can be energy-draining, it significantly expedites the pace of product development.
Before gaining access to the system, a single-sign-on dashboard is available for users to log in. Upon successful login, users are taken directly to the dashboard home page, which like a NEST for all the necessary details about Portaverse. This page also presents the choice of three platforms: KMS, LMS, or TMS. Each platform, such as KMS, offers its own unique navigation menu.

When knowing it would be a super app, me and my team gathered a meeting to find a solution in order to accommodate putting all the menus on the landing page. We have a several approach by finding an existing app that already implement this method. We find two apps that exactly use this kind of approach. The first one is Gojek (left). The second one is OLX (right).
After a long discussion, we agreed to use Gojek approach because it's more relevant and more simple from what we want to create.
This is the solution to our design challenge. With using the Gojek method we can save up some space and provide the entire menu with additional descriptions. Using this approach users can utilize their user experience and familiar ways to provide such many information.
Key Takeaways
The development of the application was the most memorable experience for me. There were numerous challenges in creating the user interface and understanding the product. The most memorable aspect for me was when my colleagues and I determined solutions through collective decision-making. Iteration also served as a fundamental pillar for us to learn how to create a good product; it wasn't perfect, but it was approaching perfection. Undoubtedly, building an application used by thousands of users with diverse personalities is no easy task. Portaverse taught me to be a good leader to my subordinates and a good colleague to my peers.
